Vegan Festival 'Veg Out Seattle' Gets Funded!

A new vegan festival, Veg Out Seattle, will officially take place on Thursday April 21 at the Metropolis in the SoDo neighborhood, after getting $5079 pledged from their initial $4750 Kickstarter campaign goal!

The festival came into planning after Kelli Bielema, Shindig Events owner, discovered that while there were many meat-based food events and festivals in Seattle, there was a very apparent lack of plant-based ones available. Veg Out Seattle was a way to provide something fun and delicious to plant-based eaters, especially since veganism is "becoming more than a trend" and is an "active and inspirational lifestyle that lends itself to sustainable practices".

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and promises to be the dream of everyone who loves to eat. In addition to food sampling, it will also include musical performances, chef demonstrations, cooking competitions, and more. While the list of sponsors and vendors is continuously being updated, it was announced that Mackenzie DeVito of No Bones About It food truck and the first vegan tiki bar No Bones Beach Club will be there!

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Whole Kids Foundation, a nonprofit that works to encourage schools and inspire families to improve the nutrition of children. Tickets will be available by late February, so if you live in Seattle or were planning to visit, make sure to check out this great festival that celebrates all things vegan on April 21!
