ESPN recently did a feature on vegan soccer player Toni Pressley, who currently plays with the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
The 27-year-old has been vegan for four months, initially adopting a plant-based diet as an "experiment," but committing to it after noticing she was "getting leaner and had more energy on the field." Pressley states:
"I loved learning about which substitutions I could make and how to reinvent recipes and food. There are so many options available that veganism is not as hard as many people think. I make sure I get my protein with plant-based protein shakes, tofu, meat replacements (I really like pea-based options), and I also take a daily vitamin."
