Wet n Wild Cosmetic Company Introducing Vegan Brushes in 2016!
Wet n Wild, Los Angeles based cosmetic company, has made the announcement that all of their makeup brushes will be vegan from January 2016!
The new line includes an overall of 17 brushes, which will consist of a powder brush, angled liner/brow brush, small stippling brush, flat-top kabuki brush, and an eye shadow blender brush, and more. From the company’s Facebook page:
“With 17 vegan brushes, we’ve upped our brush game and can’t wait for you to meet our pink-tipped cruelty-free beauties!”
While the company was already considered cruelty free as they do not test on animals and have many vegan products, the decision to remove the animal-based brushes reportedly comes from talks with PETA. Many makeup brushes are made from the fur of squirrel, horse/pony, goat, or from minks from the notoriously cruel fur farms.
PETA is currently continuing talks with other cosmetic companies, such as H&M, NYX, Pur Cosmetics, and M.O.T.D. to make the switch to vegan brushes. From their website:
“There’s no reason to use animal-hair brushes, especially when high-quality synthetic brushes are available at a store near you. Most wet n wild products are not only cruelty-free but also vegan.”
Hopefully PETA will be able to convince these companies, as well as many more, to follow in the footsteps of Wet n Wild!
