Tesla Motors Launches Vegan SUV Model!
Luxury electric car company Tesla Motors was challenged by one of its shareholders, PETA, to offer an all-vegan interior for their environmentally friendly cars.
CEO Elon Musk stated he would absolutely consider it, and the company delivered. The Model X is their new sport utility vehicle that has a leather-free option for the seats, gear-shift and the steering wheel. The option comes in “Ultra White”, and actually replaces a cloth version that was introduced by the company after many customers criticized the use of leather in an eco-friendly car.
This move follows car companies such as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW and more who offer the option of leather-free car interiors.
A Tesla spokesperson, Khobi Brooklyn, stated:
“We find that customers enjoy both leather and non-leather options for their Teslas. We are committed to giving customers the ability to build the Tesla that meets their needs and lifestyle choices.”
The Model X comes with double-hinged falcon wing doors, and can reach 60mph in just 3.2 seconds, and can drive 250 miles per change. But according to Tracy Reiman, PETA Executive Vice President, the SUV’s appearance is not the only aspect that gives it futuristic qualities:
“By offering a 100 percent leather-free car, Tesla is pushing its eco-friendly business even further into the future. PETA can now point to Tesla as a source for top-quality vehicles whose cruelty-free seats are as kind to the environment as its engines are.”
With delivery of the car set to begin at the end of 2016, customers can now enjoy an eco-friendly car that also avoids the unnecessary use of leather!
