Italy Opens Its First Vegan Kindergarten
Milan, Italy is home to the first kindergarten in the country that is vegan in every sense of the word. The Nature school will serve entirely plant based meals to its students and focus its curriculum on environmental issues and the importance of reusing and recycling, as well. A statement to La Stampa Chronicles says:
“We love and respect all animals, so we do not use any food originated from their exploitation (not only meat and fish, but also eggs, dairy and honey). Our dishes are therefore 100% vegan.”
Predictably, the school has faced some criticism for the possibility of contributing to eating disorder development in its students, yet this non-scientific opinion fails to see how the message of ethical veganism is not about restriction, but rather about abundance. The Nature school will hopefully shine as another example of how practicing compassion early on in life can set kids up for a lifetime of happiness.
