Fire and Earth Kitchen Opens Vegan Cooking School in Seattle!
Fans of Fire and Earth Kitchen were absolutely thrilled to hear the recent news that the team signed a lease to open the first brick and mortar fully vegan and gluten-free cooking school and center for compassionate living in Seattle! Now their popular Eastern European, Indian, and Comfort Foods classes will soon become regular and in one convenient location!
The beautiful new space is located along the canal and right by the Burke Gilman Trail in Fremont. I was able to speak with Renee Press, founder of Fire and Earth Kitchen, and learn more about the announcement, the planned classes and activities, and what people in general can expect from this new space–as well as from the grand opening!
Renee stated that after seeing the business grow over the past few years, they knew that there was not only a demand for a brick and mortar space, but that Fire and Earth Kitchen was also ready for one. The mobile classes offered at various locations were selling out months in advance, and an official space essentially meant more of what people wanted. Aiming to help people “see the possibilities that emerge with cooking vegan food, instead of the limitations”, the space would also perfectly compliment the mission of Fire and Earth Kitchen itself. Renee stated:
“Our goal has always been to bring people together around good food, and create a community where people could learn new recipes, taste new dishes, and experience vegan cooking without fear of judgment. We want Fire and Earth Kitchen to be a welcoming space for everyone, where people can explore what vegan cooking, eating and living feels like. Compassion and healthy living starts with ourselves, and we want to give people the tools they need to live the life they desire.”
And what are some of the cooking classes and events people can expect to find at the new location? Renee stated that they will offer their popular weekend cooking classes, the Creative Vegan Cooking 101 course (a four week series), ‘lunch and learn’ and team building cooking classes for businesses, as well as cooking classes for kids, teenagers and for date nights! Guests will also have the option to take private cooking classes, and the space will host local guest chefs, workshops and cookbook authors!
When I asked Renee more about the Center for Compassionate Living aspect of the new location, she stated:
“Good food creates good health both physically and mentally, but we recognize the importance of sharing other aspects of healthy, compassionate living and we want to integrate that into our space. We will occasionally hold workshops and on and off-site retreats which combine our love of delicious vegan food with other aspects of integrated wellness like yoga and meditation. We plan to open weekly meditations for anyone who is interested.”
The outdoor grand opening party is set for Saturday July 16th, and will feature music, snacks, grilled goodies and the Fire and Earth Kitchen team will treat guests to Seattle’s largest hummus platter! There will also be free recipes, gift certificates to the cooking classes, and of course, tours of the new space! The party will be followed by the first cooking class on the deck on Sunday July 17, which will be a Japanese Summer Picnic class. Tickets for July and August classes will soon be available, which will focus on Vietnamese and Cambodian cuisine, set outdoors in nature!
