Model Christie Brinkley States She Is An "Aspiring Vegan"
In a feature for People Style, model Christie Brinkley, 62, opens up about her past experience with Botox, her current use of fillers and laser treatments, and her general skin care regimen that helps her remain so youthful and vibrant. While the majority of the feature is about Brinkley’s skin care routine and her upcoming skin care line, a mention about taking good care of yourself also brings up her diet. She states:
“You’ve gotta take care of yourself and share what you do so others can take care of themselves as well.”
On top of her treatments to keep her skin looking its best, the Sports Illustrated model also states that she is an “aspiring vegan”, who lives off of a mostly plant-based diet, with a few exceptions. She elaborates:
“I try to be as vegan as I can be…I try to keep it mainly to the mozzarella now. It comes from Italy and I like to imagine it’s just this little cow roaming on a hill and somebody milks it gently. Occasionally I feel like I need a little piece of salmon…I will occasionally eat oysters. But other than that it’s a vegetable based diet with lots of greens and quinoa and some couscous.”
In a 2009 interview with People, Brinkley spoke about her early decision to become a vegetarian, as well as her ability to encourage those around her to adopt the diet:
“Nutrition has always played a huge role in my life. I became a vegetarian when I was 13 and then got my entire family to become vegetarians.”
Time will tell if Brinkley’s current status of an “aspiring vegan” will also inspire others to at least lessen their overall consumption of animal products.
