Natalie Portman: "Paris Has Improved a Lot for Vegans"
Natalie Portman, her husband Benjamin Millepied, and their five-year-old son have just moved back to Los Angeles after living in Paris for two years. While being interviewed by InStyle last year, the longtime vegetarian and current vegan shared her skin secrets after being told her skin looked “luminous”:
“Diet is a big part of it. I’m vegan, and I drink a lot of water. If I have dairy, I break out immediately.”
When asked how she was avoiding cheese while living in the country best known for it, she responded:
“All the baked goods are made with butter, so I don’t have croissants either, which is a challenge.”
Now, as the family have returned to Los Angeles, Portman gave an interview to The Guardian about her move and career, and when jokingly asked if she left because of the lack of vegan cuisine, she responded:
“Took the words out of my mouth. Actually, Paris has improved a lot for vegans in the past few years. It was a lucky moment to be there as a vegan.”
Portman stated that in terms of vegan food in Paris “you can get anything if you know where to look.” It seems that as long as you do some research, traveling or living abroad as a vegan is not as difficult as it is often made out to be!
