Green Lion Will Be Sydney's First All-Vegan Pub!
Vegan restaurants popping up with a plant-based mission is one thing, but eateries deciding to change their tune to a more cruelty-free menu is an even more impressive shift. And that’s just what the Red Lion in Sydney, Australia has chosen to do. Starting September 17, the Sydney pub will split its two levels into separate restaurants, with the all-vegan Green Lion located on the first floor.
Co-founder Bhavani Baumann stated:
“We are opening the Green Lion with the belief that great and tasty comfort food can be made without animal products and will be creating plant based food that will appeal to everyone. We believe in supporting people who are making conscious choices with their food, want to challenge the idea of what a beer and burger can be.”
Not only is the bistro planning on veganizing some of its pub favorites, like nachos, bangers and mash, and fish and chips, but the menu will also include a selection of vegan wines. The trend of popular restaurants revamping their menus to be cruelty-free is taking off. Just recently a pub in Nottingham, England, changed up its menu to be entirely plant-based, bringing us closer and closer to the vegan vs. non-vegan tipping point.
