Novak Djokovic: Melbourne One of the Best Cities for Organic, Plant-Based Food
Although Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena opened Eqvita, a raw vegan restaurant in Monte Carlo last year, the tennis champion has alluded that he may consider opening a vegan eatery in Melbourne, Australia in the future. According to Herald Sun, Djokovic stated:
“I think Melbourne is one of the best cities in the world for organic, plant-based food and juice bars that I have ever experienced. There are not many places like Melbourne that have so much consciousness and awareness about food. It’s very vibrant here.”
When he was asked if he would consider opening a restaurant or juice bar in the city, Djokovic stated, “In the future, absolutely. Why not?” adding that he enjoys “green juices, smoothies and chia puddings in Melbourne.” He described his passion for health and nutrition in the feature, which has had a profound impact on his career:
“My attitude to food is, let the food be your medicine and the medicine be your food. That’s the approach I have. The more I explore things like fuel and energy for my body, the better I will be as a tennis player, and my general well being and health.”
