Gusta Foods Opens Restaurant & Deli Shop in Montreal!
In our list of vegan butcher shops and delis that are taking over the world, we had a “coming soon” section dedicated to a couple of options to look out for in the future–one of which was Gusta Foods. Based in Montreal, Canada, Gusta was already selling its artisanal, gourmet, and locally-made vegan cheeses and mock deli meats online and to many stores, but had also announced that it was planning on opening up a shop in Jean-Talon Market in Montreal.
The soft opening of that restaurant and shop has already begun, with the hours set (for now) between 11am to 6pm at 191 Place-du-Marché North. Sales and marketing director Frédéric Boucher told Eater Montreal:
“Basically in Montreal, the offerings we have are really healthy, with salads and veggies. We’re the hardcore vegan tasty stuff…vegan comfort food, which we didn’t have much of in Montreal. That’s why we decided to open the restaurant.”
“We’re going to have basically two burgers, the Big G, a bit like a Big Mac with a vegan twist, a barbecued, smokey burger…we’re going to do some breakfast sausages that we just came out with, with some tofu scrambled eggs. Caesar salad, and a kebab, like a shish taouk — and we’ll probably integrate more stuff.”
If your jaw dropped when reading “kebab” and “shish taouk”–just wait until you see the photo:
So if you are in Montreal, make sure to drop by Gusta’s restaurant during the soft opening and sample the delicious menu offerings!
