London-Based Italian Pizzeria Goes 100% Vegan!
There’s something amazing happening in the U.K., and I really hope it starts spreading globally. Just last month, London-based cafe The Fields Beneath ditched dairy and became completely vegan. Soon after, Ice Shack, an ice cream shop in Manchester, eliminated dairy from its dessert-packed menu. And as of April 2, London-based Italian pizzeria PickyWops ditched all animal products to offer customers delicious plant-based and cruelty-free pizzas.
According to Rise of the Vegan, PickyWops owners Cristiano Vitelli and Andrea Moro both became vegan and were “repulsed by the thought of serving dairy and meat to their customers,” and decided to “work hard on eliminating all animal products as quickly as possible.” On April 1, PickyWops announced on Facebook:
“Our cosy little pizza place will be also free from dairy, from meat and most importantly 100% CRUELTY FREE from tomorrow Sunday the 2nd of April!!! We believe that nothing can justify violence and we have to give our contribution to prove that there is an alternative way based on compassion, sustainable and in our case TASTIER!!! We also believe that our concept is based on look at things from a different angle and don’t stop judging from labels…its not true that something is right only because we have been always doing it!!
Located at 347 North End Road (Shopping Palace Unit 7), the new menu really stands out as PickyWops offers multiple alternative and healthy dough bases (including spirulina!) and almond ricotta-stuffed crusts. Remember when I said that I have to update our list of omnivore restaurants that are now 100% vegan? Now I really mean it.
