Martha Stewart Weddings Releases Guide for Vegan Weddings
Earlier this year, Martha Stewart Weddings released a how-to guide for throwing a successful vegan wedding–even when “guests expect meat.” Writer Hannah Lavine spoke with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) staffer and World of Vegan founder Michelle Cehn, who offered six tips on what “brides and grooms can do to “veganize” their big days without alienating loved ones.”
Some of the suggestions that Cehn, who had a vegan wedding herself, mentioned include remembering that it’s your day, avoiding “boring plates of marinated vegetables,” veganizing familiar dishes, and giving your guests a heads up. She added:
“The possibilities are endless! These days, terrific vegan meats and cheeses are readily available, so you can ‘veganize’ any favorite recipe or stick with dishes that spotlight fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. For my wedding, I went with a buffet of traditional foods that everyone knows and loves, including bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, dairy-free pesto rotini, vegetable tian, roasted petite red potatoes, vegan quiche, and artisan bread and olive oil.”
You can check out the full guide that aims to keep everyone–even the “tofu-fearing, carnivore guests”–happy, right here. And just in case you need some inspiration for wedding-level vegan menu options, Martha Stewart Weddings also featured this article on eight vegan-friendly ideas.
