SB Nation Highlights Improved Performance of Vegan & Vegetarian NBA Players
Sports news website SB Nation recently profiled the stories of NBA players who have “sworn off eating animals and animal products.”
Calling veganism a “lifestyle trend” that appears to be “taking the NBA by storm,” the article highlighted eight players, the list of which included some familiar faces: Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler and Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor.
Some of the many benefits and advantages of sticking to a plant-based, or mostly plant-based, diet noted by the players include:
- Increased and sustained energy
- Playing lighter
- Better sleep
- Faster recovery
- Lowered inflammation
- Less aches and pains
- Shedding excess weight
Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers summed up his experience so far, stating:
“I feel much better. I thought it was all hype. I thought people just said it just because it was a healthier food but I can feel it. I can definitely feel it.”
